About Simple Ops
Simple Ops helps owner-operated businesses understand how work really happens, remove unnecessary friction and make improvements that fit the people and the business.
Why Simple Ops exists
Workarounds solve immediate problems. Tools are added as they are needed. Experienced people carry important knowledge. The owner steps in when something needs an answer.
Then the business grows. More work moves through the same habits, and more time disappears into chasing, checking and correcting.
Simple Ops helps owners step back, see what has accumulated and decide what is genuinely worth improving.
A whole-business view
Independent and practical
The recommendation might be to keep what you have, remove unnecessary steps, clarify ownership, connect existing tools or invest in something new.
Technology is useful only when it makes the operation simpler, clearer or more reliable.
Simple Ops comes from years spent working across operations, product, technology, customer experience and commercial leadership in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe.
Across different businesses, industries and countries, the same problems kept showing up.
People frustrated by the tools they use. Teams frustrated with each other. Information scattered across too many places. Repetitive work that everyone knows should be easier. Good ideas taking too long to become meaningful change.
Often, the people closest to the work can already see what is getting in the way, but do not have the time, support or authority to fix it.
Simple Ops brings those disciplines together to understand the business, simplify the work and deliver the smallest useful change supported by evidence.
Sometimes that means a clearer process. Sometimes it means getting more from the tools already in place. Sometimes automation, software or AI is justified. Technology has to earn its place.
Simple Ops was founded by Geordie Lindsay Russell, drawing on experience ranging from frontline operations and business ownership through to leading teams, product portfolios, software delivery and technology strategy.

Simple Ops uses a disciplined but practical method. We understand what is happening, define the right problem/opportunity, consider credible options and deliver the smallest useful change supported by data.
Start with what already exists and understand why current workarounds exist.
Understand the whole business by looking at what actually happens, not what a document says should happen.
Use the simplest solution that solves the problem.
An improvement matters only if the people involved can understand and use it.
